Hi
everyone,

Just one last e-mail  for Ultragiving 2011,  just to say thank you and to remind those of you that did not have a chance to Ultragive, that
there is still time to give...

to make your donations --
http://www.fcommunautaire.com/pages_fonds/fondsfondationultragiving.php

Remember, your generosity will change the lives of many people here and around the world, and
not just this year but forever. You can see the projects you will be helping here.

Lastly, since many of you were asking, here are a few stats on the VT 100  and a couple of videos. One which is just like the last one
i did for the VT50 with pictures  from the race and so on...and the second is a real video taken by "Michel Caron"  who  was "pacing" another Quebecer Patrice
Godin"...the result is quite nice....enjoy ---

STATS

- 297 people started the race  , 197 finished --- i finished 129th in 25 hrs and 36
minutes

- The insane winner ran it in less than 15:30 hrs and only 19 people came in under
20 hours, the last person to come in under the 30 hour cut-off came in at 29
hours and 48 minutes. The oldest participant was 74 and ran for 27 hours before he had to call it a day. The oldest finisher was 68 injust over 26 hours.

- 100 miles is approximately 200 000 steps  which is about 40 days worth of
steps.

- 100 miles is  just under 4 marathons in a row ---the first one, i ran  in 4hrs
and 30 minutes ---the last one in the dark in over 8:00 hrs...ouch...

- There was 30 000 feet of elevation change (up 15k -down 15k) --  Only 16% of the
course was  flat. Knowing how to run the downhills well is a clear advantage -
(not a talent of mine apparently)...;)

- over 30% of the course is on single track "mountain bike" type trails with most of this 30% in the last
quarter of the race...

- lost 7 pounds in the first half of the race ---gained 7 pounds in the following
20 miles ---finished the race at exactly the same weight i started

- burned between 12000 and 15000 calories

- drank between 30 and  40 litres of water - mountain dew, ice tea and
coke

- ate about a dozen PB & J sandwiches, 6 or 7 oranges, 2 or 3  bananas, 1 watermelon, 1 or 2  potatos
with salt, a dozen gels, about 50 electrolyte tablets (salt) , 2 or 3 packets of
"ramen" soup, about a dozen tylenol/advil tablets and one small tube of ice-hot
cream (muscle pain relief)

- 4 #1's, no # 2's and threw up only once (mile 80
something)

- 7 black and blue toe nails

- one broken big
toe.

- 1 insane buddy - pacer for the last 30 miles or 9hrs and 30 minutes....

- 1 awesome fan club throughout
the race

and last but not least ----and MOST IMPORTANTLY

Over 100 donators and close to 60 000 $ of Ultragiving

over 100  maasai girls getting an education, close to 40 orphans in Myanmar being given a chance in life, and for this year,
you will also help alleviate some of the pain, people in the Richelieu region, have experienced because of the disastrous flooding.

LIES

1- Less than 4yrs ago,
looking at my herniated discs on the MRI, a neurosurgeon told me i might never
walk again without pain, much less run. He lied.

2- After finishing the VT100, with bags of ice over my very hurt quads, i told my family that i would never
ever run another 100  miles...;)
