ULTRAGIVING 2010                                                                                                                       ULTRAGIVING -2010- francais

-For 2010 -- we are going back to the "Vermont 50"  but this time on a mountain bike and with a team of bikers and a relay team that will run the 50 mile course. In a very few days, on the 26th of  september, 8 friends and i will unite and face our own strengths and weaknesses as we  travel the 80km of trails and 9 000 feet of elevation of the "Vermont 50".
(The "boys" involved are Pierre Morin, Claude Legault, Alain Vallieres, Paul Gilbert and myself on bikes, Vincent Mascolo, Philippe Charest and Claude Robitaille will be running it)
Just like last year ---we are using this challenge to raise funds for charities.
Again- the 3 chosen causes are directly related to our friends and families. What they are doing, what they are experiencing...

1) MYANMAR ORPHANAGE :  Philippe Charest brings us a project that is very close to his heart and that shows us just how much "grassroots" project can really make a difference and change lives. His mother started this project from scratch a few years ago and though she has come a long way --- there is always work to be done, and right now they are going through a sponsorship program for the kids...have a look and just like in a "world vision" sponsor program, you can adopt a child in need. The only difference is that 100% of your donation goes to the kids -- not a cent for administration or other fees.

2) CANADIAN  CANCER SOCIETY

I will leave it to my friend Claude Legault to explain why we have also chosen the Canadian Cancer Society as one of our 3 beneficiaries.
"Hi there!

I am seeking your support today, for a cause that is very close to my heart: Cancer!

Cancer is a disease that has affected several members of my family (some have survived, and others not). My best buddy is fighting daily against this disease and I would like to bring my little contribution to the research against Cancer.

In order to collect funds for the Canadian Cancer Society, I have decided to joint the VERMONT 50: a 50 miles mountain bike race, and collect 15 000 $: that is 300$ per mile.

Lyne Bessette, the Canadian ex-champion of Bike, did the same race in 8 hours and 15 minutes. I wouldn’t want to compare myself to her great shape, but I am planning to run the race in less than 12 hours! I have to admit that it is a great challenge for me, but nothing compare to what children and adults with cancer are going through every single day.
Would you like to participate to my cycle race, no need to ride a bike…
Just send me a check of any amount of your choice, addressed to the Canadian Cancer Society to the address below, before the 30 sept. 2010. A receipt for tax purposes will be delivered to you.

Thank you15000 times!

To give you an idea of the challenge… here is a link to the map of last year’s race:
